Jobs shrugged. "I don't really know."

"Sounds okay to me," Mo'Steel said.

Burroway's face looked pained. He'd been complaining of a headache since breakfast. "Okay, spread out but make sure you can see the rest of us."

Jobs and the others worked mostly without speaking. Jobs sifted through the ash that covered the ground in varying layers of thickness. He wondered what exactly the stuff was made of and made sure to gather a good-sized scoop to take back to the lab.
